We have recently been on holiday to Rio de Janeiro (August 07)
During our stay we took advantage of availing ourselves of a tour guide for a
six hour tour of the city.
Our guide Lisa was brilliant and we feel we would like to recommend her to other
tourists via ‘The Lonely Planet’ travel guide.
Lisa is fluent in a number of languages and her English is excellent; she spent
time in London when she was a student.
We had a bad experience on our first day in Rio and we felt unable to trust
our judgement in terms of what was a safe venture or not.
We were very keen to explore the city and Lisa’s knowledge as an inhabitant of the
city was invaluable as with her guidance we were able to visit areas we would
not have otherwise seen, either because we didn’t know they were there or because
we would not have been able to weigh up whether or not it was risky to wander and explore.
Lisa is a lovely person who is both confident and relaxed and yet informative
and passionate about Rio.
She has a great deal of knowledge about the history of the city and the significant
buildings including some very beautiful churches and interesting facts as part of the tour.
She also includes some wonderful experiences such as having coffee and a
delicious cake or pastry in the most beautiful café.
We experienced the liveliness of the market areas which for us was just as
fascinating as the historic buildings.
Lisa takes you via the tram to St Theresa, which is charmingly Bohemian and
there we ate a typical Brazilian meal in a local restaurant.
Lisa is very willing to do anything she can to ensure that the tourists
she guides get a real flavour of Rio.

Dear Sir/Madam, My partner, mother and I visited Brazil in Dec 2007 and had a
wonderful time during our 5 day visit.
We had the pleasure of meeting Lisa Schnittger from lisariotours and this
connection was made through our Hotel.
We did the Colonial Rio Tour with Lisa which was just fabulous! During
the tour Lisa asked us questions re certain landmarks and this was a great
way for us to learn and retain information. We were all impressed with Lisa's ability
to show us around the city and know so much information and history about
Rio and Brazil without actually being born there.
The tour covered a large area on foot and this was a wonderful opportunity
to capture some beautiful architecture on film and take a little slice of Rio
with us when we left. Without Lisariotours this wouldn't have been possible and
would have gone undiscovered. It's always difficult to know where to go when
traveling OS and you often miss wonderful things but we feel we really did
cover a lot of ground that day and still when we look at the photos we sit in
awe of this wonderful city Rio De Janerio.
We found Lisa to be just wonderful, very personable and easy to get along with
and would consider meeting up with her again one day if the opportunity ever
passes us by to visit your fabulous country/city again. We all left
Rio being richer in knowledge (thanks to Lisa) and holding some fabulous
memories close to our hearts forever.
I would like to highly recommend the tours of
Lisa Schnittger.
Over the years that I have been
coming to Rio I have taken all of her tours: Colonial
Rio, Colonial Rio Tour +Santa Tereza, Afro Brazilian
and the Niteroi tour.
I can`t say enough good about them.
I thought somuch of her tours that on my last trip to Rio I
brought some friends with me and I hired her to take
them on the Colonial/Santa Tereza tour so they will
have a good introduction to Rio and its culture.
I
went along as well and still got something out of it
the second time around. I have been coming to Rio for
quite some time and have read quite a bit about the
history and its culture and her understanding is very
well researched and in depth.
I am especially
impressed with how she can get you into some places
that are closed or come up with interesting
alternatives if you can not get in.
I have taken tours
from other companies and I always thought with Lisa I
was getting more than a typical industrial tour that
herds you along and felt I was getting a tour that was
more personal and one that got you a little closer to
the real Rio.
thanks for listening
I wanted to thank you for all your organisations that you have done for us. We have
had absolutely fantastic trip and will talk about this as long as we live.
The Iguassu Falls was amazing and Francisco looked after us so well.
I must say Gilten, Alex and Francisco have been so good to us and treated us
as well as you yourself did.
John and I appreciated so much! With this trip we saw the good side of Brasil
and the bad side but over all it was very very good and I can recommend
everyone to visit Brasil with some care only in certain areas.
We found Sao Paolo, Amazons and Iguassu safe but Rio and Salvador
depending on where you are.
I must say Rio was safer than I was told. The landscape of the country is absolutely
beautiful everywhere you
go. It is a treasure for Brazilians if they take care of their country.
Thanks again for all and hope to see you in London or Brasil one day.
Wish you all the best luck for future development for your job.
Hugs and Kisses,
Kind Regards,

My girlfriend and me just spent 3 weeks holiday in the beautiful country of Brazil. Our tour started from Rio de Janeiro. In our hotel we asked for a guide who could show us the city. They recommended LISA SCHNITTGER. She came into our hotel at the accorded time and showed us the city from the most beautiful side telling us also a lot of excellent historical and background information.
I want just let you know, that I will recommend such competent and beautiful guide to everyone who goes to Rio and would like to know the city in a good and competent way. During our other three weeks we hadn't such a good guide as Lisa.
So, I hope very much, that also other tourists will be conducted by a guide like Lisa, who is surely a big contribution to keep in mind Rio de Janeiro forever in a lovely way.
Very best regards from Switzerland!

I’m german and in Rio around two weeks ago I did a tour
With a tourguide called Lisa Schnittger. She is doing a walking tour
Called: “Colonial Rio Tour” or “Colonial Rio Tour and Santa Teresa”.
I highly recommend that tour, because you see much more than in
Many bus tours in Rio, I got a lot information and I was so glad in
Seeing the heart of the city and to hear about the History.
We have seen many important churches, the old cathedral,
The Candelária Church and others, we saw cultural centers and important squares like the 15 of November square and the Palast of the Governeurs, called Paço Imperial.
Than we made a break at the traditional Café Colombo and at the end we
Went by an old tram through the picturesque neighborhood “Santa Teresa”
I think this tour is really special and it would be important to include it
In the Loneley Planet.
